As a construction company ourselves, we recognise the importance of mental health, and how the reality is, it often gets overlooked, especially within our industry.
Sometimes, the things that may seem not as obvious to others, can be just as detrimental as the physical dangers that come with working in construction.
Which is why we believe the MFHA course is essential for employers and individuals to know about.
There are several factors that contribute to construction’s poor mental health record. Such as long hours, working away from home, and heavy workloads.
With the MHFA course you can learn how to spot when these factors could become mental health issues. And confidently provide support before it has the potential to escalate further.
With the MHFA course all participants are trained to listen.
You will learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns. As well as strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for appropriate support and help.
You will be equipped to manage emergencies, but it is important to note MHFAs are not trained psychiatrists or therapists.
At our facilities we offer the updated 2 Day MHFA course, which includes access to MHFAs Support and Benefits.
On completion of the course, learners are given three years’ access to the MHFAs Support App and Online Learning Hub. From there they will find exclusive resources, ongoing learning opportunities and the benefit of joining England’s largest community of trained MHFAs.
With access to these added MHFA Support and Benefits, the training doesn’t stop when the course comes to an end. Learners are provided with continuous support – well beyond initial certification – so that they are confident, empowered and motivated to carry out their role.
Having MHFAs within your business help reassure your employees there are always people to talk to and confide within their work environment.
With mental health issues being so prevalent, having prominent people within your business will encourage conversations. Whilst changing the way mental health is perceived within your work culture.
This will also help to ensure a healthy workforce. We understand that health and safety is a priority amongst many businesses.
However, your workforce’s mental wellbeing is just as important as their physical health.
An all-round healthy workforce means fewer absences, improved employee retention and increased morale.
We regularly run the MHFA course at our training facilities in Kirkby. So if your interested in becoming apart of the MFHA community or training your employees get in touch.

“I wanted to make a difference and show I care by upskilling myself with the relevant knowledge to be able to support my colleagues who are showing signs of mental health and allow me to be able to intervene before it has the potential to escalate by listening and offering guidance.”
Jonathon McGurk
“I decided to go on the mental health first aid course due to occasions over the past year when employees I manage have come to me with issues related to mental health. I didn’t feel I could give them the advice or support they required which led me to go on the course. Now feel confident I can provide support to anyone struggling with a mental health related issue.”
