Meet Keeley: Celebrating her Journey at Van Elle

To continue our introduction to our training team, we would like to introduce our longest reining member of the team, Keeley.

This November marks a significant milestone for Keeley, as she completes 10 years with Van Elle. She began her career with us in 2014 as a HR and Training Administrator before transitioning to the role of PA to the Group Director for two years. After taking maternity leave, Keeley returned as a Training Administrator and has since been promoted to Training Coordinator.

Can You Tell Us About Your Role as a Training Coordinator and What a Typical Day Looks Like?

In her role as Training Coordinator, she participates in regular meetings with various divisions to discuss their training needs and ensure everyone is up to date. She is responsible for pulling monthly reports for each division, tracking essential details such as certification expiry dates and organising upcoming training sessions for internal teams whilst co-ordinating external courses when necessary. Additionally, Keeley has been trained on the NPORS loading shovel, allowing her to support courses that may require a driver.

Can You Tell Us a Bit About Your Background and How You Got Into Construction Training?

In 2014, she came across an advert for a position at Van Elle in the newspaper and decided to apply. That decision has led to nearly 10 years of serving with the company.

What Is Your Favourite Aspect of Your Role?

Keeley finds working with the training team to be incredibly rewarding, as she gets to meet new candidates daily who come in to participate in various courses. She really enjoys her role, particularly the opportunity to join meetings with different divisions to discuss their training needs and contribute to their development. Branching into the wider business is an exciting opportunity.

What Has Been One of Your Most Rewarding Experiences in This Role?

Keeley recognises that one of her most rewarding experiences was in 2019 when the team had the opportunity to sponsor and visit Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospital. Meeting the staff and children and seeing firsthand how Van Elle’s charity work made a difference was eye-opening and humbling.

Keeley also loves working with her team, whose support has been vital in the 10 year journey. Recently, being promoted to the role of Coordinator has also been an exciting step in Keeley’s blossoming career.

What Is Your Favourite Thing About Working at Van Elle?

Over the past decade at Van Elle, Keeley has had the privilege of meeting many wonderful people, some of whom have become lifelong friends. The team we work with, along with the wider business, is full of lovely individuals, and there’s a strong sense of camaraderie and team spirit. As a local girl, she has also witnessed the positive impact Van Elle has on the community, which makes us proud to be part of it. It truly feels like a close-knit community.

What Do You Enjoy Doing in Your Free Time?

Outside of work, Keeley cherishes the time she gets to spend with her two kids, aged 1 and 5. Family time is important, but she also make’s sure to enjoy moments with friends and partner, including attending festivals and often spend time with colleagues outside of work, which strengthens the great bond they share as a team.
