Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC)
Driver CPC for LGV licenses C1 – C – C+E (7.5 Tonnes – class 2 -class 1 licenses) came into force on the 9th of September 2014
Drivers must have completed 35 hours of Driver CPC training and obtained their Driver CPC Card from DVLA by that date. It will be an offence enforceable by the Police and VOSA to drive professionally without holding or being able to produce a Driver CPC card at the roadside.
Once this has been achieved drivers need to complete a minimum of 35 hours of JAUPT approved periodic training during every five-year cycle, for as long as they wish to drive professionally
The delivery is largely classroom based although vehicle based assessments can be used for some modules. Each Module is 3.5 hours and you need to complete 2 modules over 7 hours excluding breaks. All modules are approved by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT).
There is no formal assessment or testing. Training can be delivered on customers premises providing they meet the correct criteria
